Paddle Fest

The 4th annual Slave River Paddle Fest was held on August long weekend this year.  This may have been the best ever event with more than 266 participants and 77 of those were focused on our whitewater events.

Our events included a flatwater canoe race across the Rapids of the Drowned located in the Town of Fort Smith, NT, a Big Air competition on a wave named Roller Coaster, a World Kayak Throwdown, whitewater games and a huge demo area for canoes, kayaks and SUP’s.  For those new to kayaking we offered rides in the JK Dynamic Duo.

This year participants came up from Fort Collins, Colorado, Munich Germany, Alberta and British Columbia.  Given the 14 hour drive from Edmonton this is no small feat.  Yet to paddle some of the best whitewater playboating there is in 34 degree Celsius weather and super warm water…I am 100% certain I too would make that trek.
