ABOUT THE FLEX DRIVE

Jackson Kayak has designed a patent-pending prop-driven pedal system which allows for hands-free forward and reverse propulsion for kayaks. Named the Flex Drive, it consists of a daggerboard-protected two prop propeller which, combined with unique articulation gives the Flex Drive increased performance over other drives and helps keep the system clear of obstacles and easy to clean. Jackson Kayak’s Flex Drive System can quickly adapt from deep to shallow water navigation without having to move the main pedal drive unit.

The Flex Drive is easily deployed with the flip of a lever, has adjustable pitch prop blades and a 12:1 ratio. Our Flex Drive E is a simple, motor-driven solution for those days out scouting on the water … or just when you simply don’t feel like pedaling to get to your destination.

Hi good day and Happy Holidays,

I live in Jacksonville Fl. and am looking for a simple stable craft to launch from behind my home and fish the protected waters of the Marsh. Here in Jax, our bottom is mud and Oysters. I would be most interested in the electric unit but didn’t see any specs on line, .e.: thrust of electric motor, battery placement, I’m very interested and welcome the opportunity to further explore my questions.

How about a balloon tire option? Unless you’re using a concrete boat ramp or very hard, smooth dirt, the stock hard plastic tires bog down and moving the boat single handedly is next to impossible. Even deep, soft grass getting from parking lot to pond is tough.

Hi Jon. We are working on an option for that. There are several folks that have done aftermarket mods, you can find them on our user page on Facebook

Are there any changes in the 2020 model vs. 2019? How is the flex drive performance comparing with the Torquedo mounted on the rear? Thanks for the info.

Hi George. For 2020 we have improved the rudder, hatches, and upgraded the Flex Drive to our new Flex Drive 3D. As for a comparison of performance an electric outboard of any kind is going to be faster than a pedal drive, however, one relies on batteries.

If Adding the e drive motor system … how fast does the 360 go ?
How long will the battery last ?
Is there a cable attachment to hook up to standard batteries other than the the lith. Packs you sell?
Lastly is there a video you know of that shows the motor , battery and 360 in action that you would recommend?

Now that it’s March 2020, is there a newer model than the 2019

This is the 2020 model. Main updates this season are improvements to the rudder, addition of the new FD3D and of course the 2020 colors.

Does the battery come with the 360 BlueSky pedal version? where do you recommend the transducer be mounted for the depthfinder?

    Reply
    • Will Richardson

Hi Glenn. A battery does not come with our BlueSky 360. There are several options for transducer mounting, my favourite is with the switchblade from YakAttack on the rear gear track

I tested out a 360 last year and found it had an issue with the seat backrest. No matter how much I tightened the thumb knobs when I began to pedal the prop the pressure of my back on the backrest pushed it all the way back flat. It made pedaling the boat near impossible. Has BSB addressed this design issue yet?

Hi Chris. We have done some work on it to make sure the backrest does not recline when you don’t want it to. We now have a larger more robust knob that you can tighten more and has a better connection. If you have an older version there is a fix you can do with an extra ram ball behind the nut. If you are still having issues please contact customer service. https://www.jacksonadventures.com/contact-us/

Where can I find the accessories that used to be available for the 360? For example the trolling motor mount, horizontal rod storage and hatches. I have the 360 and I want to add the 2 additional hatches. I can’t find them on this website.

We will be adding them to the store soon. Sorry for the wait

    Thanks Will Richardson.
Can you tell me how they will be displayed? Will there be a section for 360 accessories or will they fall in with the existing sections for rod holders and hatches?

The 360 is great, I use the E drive with a standard marine battery for A LOT less money and it works great, it just weighs more, I trolled for 3 hours at full speed and had 75% of the battery left
