Hi! I am Brian "Lug" Cadoret from Cornwall, Vermont. I am super excited to be on the JK Fishing Team! My kayak of choice is the Coosa. I spend over 150 days a year fly fishing on lakes, ponds, rivers, and streams in VT and NY. Trophy brown trout, northern pike, and steelhead are the top three reasons why I fish so much.
I am a professional fly fishing guide and co-owner of Stream and Brook Fly Fishing. We guide all over the Green Mountain State for trout, bass, pike, and anything that swims. I was the President of the New Haven River Anglers, a great non-profit river conservation group, for 6 years. I am now the Chairman of our Education Committee and active with the Conservation Committee. Teaching young kids to enjoy the outdoors is important to me. I am also a member of the Friends of Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge, a non-profitgroup that protects an area of Lake Champlain.
I fish in the Otter Creek Classic every year. It is a fly fishing-only catch and release tournament that takes place on opening day of the VT trout season. I have won first place once and second place twice. I have also landed some nice bass in the Ditch Pickle Classic. The D.P.C. is Lake Champlain's tournament exclusively for the fly rod angler and is a catch, photograph, and release tournament for Smallmouth & Largemouth Bass.
I inspired a pro-model fly rod by Rock River Rods ("The Lug") that is just about to go into production. Some of the best fly tiers aroundsupply me with flies, including the Vermont Fly Guys and Castaway Flies. I was featured in an episode of the Vermont Public Television Outdoor Journal, "VT Trout Bums"! Also I earned "Vermont Master Angler" in 2010 & 2011.
I enjoy photography and I have my camera with me whenever I am on an adventure. I work at the Middlebury College golf course and ski area, which allows me to spend lots of time outdoors and snowboard over 100 days a year! In February 2012 my amazing partner Lindsey and I had a son named Henry. We feel blessed to have such a happy and healthy son.
I like to fish! Cheers!
